NATO Enlargement

Abstract: A 6 page paper. According to the original treaty, NATO boasts an open door policy, however, to join this alliance, countries must complete a number of steps and they must be capable of fulfilling the responsibilities associated with membership. There is significant controversy as to whether or not NATO has any real purpose today. These issues are discussed as is the criteria and process for joining NATO. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
