Winning in the World Market

Abstract: A 5 page paper exploring ways that a developing third world nation can coexist with multinational corporations and retain full national sovereignty. The recent failed World Trade Organization (WTO) talks in Seattle brought world attention to the problem that developing nations face in developing their economies while still preserving national sovereignty and protecting their environments. Points discussed in the paper include developing well-defined plans for development, dispersing the multinationals throughout the nation to provide greater opportunity for the people, forming liberal tax policies that encourage business and implementing the environmental standards determined by the US EPA.
