American Psycho/In Bruges

Abstract: A 3 page essay that contrasts and compares American Psycho (2000, directed by Mary Harron) and In Bruges (2008, directed by Martin McDonagh), which are two extremely violent films that each addresses the nature of the mind of a killer. As basically, both films are about murder, it is somewhat surprising that both films are also comedies, extremely dark comedies, but, nevertheless, comedies. Comedic effect is achieved through dialogue, plot devices and characterization, but also through the elements of cinematography, that is, through camera angles, lighting, music, etc. No additional sources cited.
