The extent to which mental illness plays an integral role in each film is both grand and far-reaching; that one film depicts psychological instability as something one can successfully pretend to have, while the other profiles a man whose profound schizophrenia does not hamper his mathematical aptitude, illustrates just how influential a component mental health is in the overall social picture.
