Abstract: This 10 page paper assesses specific problems related to maintaining the stability of the coral reefs and focuses on the science, rather than the political issues, that define changes in the reef and possible problems with sustaining reef viability. This paper presents solid, substantiated data regarding the symbiotic relationships of the reef, the introduction of problematic bacteria and other microscopic organisms, and the necessity for addressing biotic changes in order to maintain the coral reefs.
