Abstract: 8 pages in length. To label Arthur Miller's poignant play Death of a Salesman a tragedy is to acknowledge the human condition and all its inherent shortcomings, where the main character believes he is worth more dead than alive. Considered to be one of the major accomplishments of modern American theater, Death of a Salesman taps into the nothingness many people experience in their lives, a far too common attribute readily applicable to Aristotle's perception of tragedy.
