Abstract: An 11 page paper discussing a variety of issues related to high-acuity nursing. High-acuity nursing is that branch of acute nursing in which patients have various conditions that require close and often intense attention. It is more intensive and far more costly than other types of care, and it generally is reserved for those cases requiring either more advanced or more intricate techniques. This paper reviews three articles reporting on nursing research while also addressing epidemiology, pathophysiology and the personal and financial costs of Type II diabetes. It includes the case of Mr. Conner, a heart patient who later developed Type II diabetes along with its complications. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
