Maya's Cage

Abstract: This 8 page paper looks at Maya Angelou's life and distinguishes just who kept her in her own cage. The book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is discussed. A great deal of biographical information is included. The paper suggests that her absent father is the one who kept her in a cage and information in the field of psychology backs up the detriments of not having a father in the home.
