Abstract: In Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird, good overcomes evil, the bad are vanquished and the evil of racism is confronted and beaten in a court of law. This would not seem so unusual if it had not taken place in the heart of the depression - a time of segregation and other extremes in social events. This 6 page paper explores the meaning of the quote, "nothing to fear but fear itself" as it applies to the issues pertinent to the book. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
