Francois Boucher's "Vertumnus And Pomona": Critique

Abstract: 4 pages in length. The 1757 oil on canvas Vertumnus and Pomona is considered one of French artist Francois Boucher's most appreciated pieces. At the time this particular painting was created, the social, political and economical impact of the arts was experiencing a rebirth of sorts that helped to establish Europe as an artisan's heaven. Most impressed by his eye for detail and whimsical approach was the royal sect, who so proudly displayed his artistic endeavors and even commissioned him to create personal pieces. Boucher was paid handsomely for these assignments, placing a new and richly deserved value on the worth of artwork in general. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
