Abstract: An 11 page analysis of the influence of Stanislavski, the creator of 'method acting', on film acting in this country. The paper begins with a description of Stanislavski's background in theater, then looks specifically at the film actors and directors in the United States who adapted and learned from his system of creating characterization.
