Abstract: A 2 page paper discussing the inability of the competitive market to greatly affect public goods. Though there are areas that government function can provide greater benefits than would exist without that government involvement, government nonetheless in many cases interferes with the ability of the competitive market to contribute to efficiency in the production of public goods. These inefficiencies are less problematic than would be providing duplicate public goods such as highways and bridges for the sole purpose of competition between the two.
