Kennedy/Preparing for the 21st Century

Abstract: A 2 page book review that analyzes Preparing for the Twenty-first Century by Paul Kennedy. Beginning with the concern that Malthus expressed two hundred years ago in regards to the England's eighteenth-century population explosion, Kennedy then proceeds to relate this to the current rate of growth of the world's population. He argues quite convincingly that the ecological problems of the later part of the twentieth century will become critical as the world enters the new millennium. The central theme of Kennedy's book is that education will play an intrinsic role in whether or not the world can support the estimated 10 billion human beings that will soon be living here.
