Media Depictions of the Iraqi People During the Persian Gulf War

Abstract: A 4 page discussion of the manner in which the Iraqi people were depicted by the media during this turbulent time in history. The author asserts that although this depiction may appear negative from an American perspective, it really was a reflection of the Iraqi ideology. Just as the strong nationalistic tendencies of Iraq and the U.S. alike shaped the public perception of the affairs which were unfolding, so too did they shape the behavior of the American and the Iraqi people. The media, therefore, was fair in its depiction of these people. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
